As we build up our life experiences, create memories, and gain wisdom, gravity, unfortunately, begins to work its magic on our outward appearance. Despite feeling youthful and vivacious, our skin's elasticity may tell a different story.

Believe it or not, there are a multitude of ways to firm up aging skin before opting for plastic surgery.

At Beacon, we are experts at rejuvenating the skin’s look and feel. We believe that non-invasive skin tightening treatments can be very effective in achieving the results you are looking for.

This blog will discuss 3 popular skin tightening treatments: Morpheus8, Thermage and Ultherapy. To come up with the most suitable treatment plan for you, a consultation with our team is the best route to take, but this list may help you make a start on your way to firmer skin.

    3 Popular Skin Tightening Treatments

    Morpheus8

The advanced Morpheus8 technology employs both microneedling and fractional radio frequency to promptly deliver visible skin tightening outcomes.

It is important to note that Morpheus8 is often used as an umbrella term for this technology of skin tightening. You may have also heard of Morpheus Burst, Morpheus Resurfacing, and Morpheus Prime.

Each version of Morpheus8 is unique so it is important that the clinic you visit has the treatment you are looking for.

    How Does it Work?

By employing bi-polar radio frequency to heat the skin's subdermal layer, Morpheus8 initiates a healing response in the body that encourages collagen production and remodels the skin, ultimately leading to enhanced skin elasticity and firmness.

About 3 weeks following treatment, the connective tissue of the skin will become tighter and stronger leaving the face looking lifted and full in previously hallowed areas. It will take up to 6 months to see the full results of Morpheus8.

Morpheus8 can produce results within just one treatment for the right candidate. With that being said, everyone’s skin type and skin concerns are unique, meaning it might take multiple treatments to achieve the intended outcome.

    What Does it Treat?

Although the Morpheus8 device is primarily a skin tightening treatment, it can also improve skin texture. With that, the device can be used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and scars in several areas of the face ...

    • Below the brow bone
    • Under eye (up to the orbital rim)
    • Around the Mouth
    • Cheeks
    • Neck

Morpheus8 can also tighten skin and treat skin texture on several areas of the body such as:

    • Chest
    • Arms
    • Knees
    • Abdomen

    Thermage

An effective non-invasive radiofrequency treatment, the Thermage system helps to smooth, lift, and redefine the contours of the skin for a revitalized and improved appearance.

    How Does it Work?

Thermage uses mono-polar radiofrequency in a stamping motion to heat the deeper layers of the skin. Similar to Morpheus8, Thermage raises the skin temperature 10 degrees in under 2 minutes to inflict controlled injury to the skin.

This is done to target deep collagen fibers while a new cooling tip that slightly cools the surface of the skin for patient comfort. The heat works to separate water molecules from the fibrous collagen, creating a contraction of the skin which results in a lifting affect.

After the Thermage treatment is done, the secondary healing process then begins with the introduction of fresh collagen to the skin. This collagen will cause the skin to become tighter over time. The full results of this can be seen after 6 months.

    What Does it Treat?

Thermage is an effective treatment for wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of aging on the face, neck, chest, and all over the body, such as the arms, abdomen, and knees.

    Ultherapy

Finally, Ultherapy is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that uses ultrasound technology to tighten and firm the skin.

    How Does it Work?

Ultrasound waves are employed to deliberately injure the skin in a controlled manner. These sound waves target the deepest layers of the skin, encouraging the body to create more collagen, and improving the skin's suppleness and elasticity.

Further, the ultrasound imaging targets the specific area of concern to ensure that the energy is delivered to the intended area.

Similar to Morpheus8 and Thermage, it takes up to 6 weeks to see the final results of the treatment. One treatment can be enough to achieve the results you are looking for, but depending on the patient and their concerns, it could take more than one treatment.

    What Does it Treat?

Ultherapy can be used to lift the skin on the face, neck, and chest. It can also be used on certain areas of the body such as the abdomen, arms, and knees.
