Beacon Dermatology are your go-to CoolSculpting experts in Calgary, providing patients with toned results and a beautiful contour that increases self-confidence. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, want to get rid of small areas of fat, and don’t have severe skin laxity issues, CoolSculpting is a great body contouring treatment.
CoolSculpting isn't designed for weight reduction but stands out as the leading non-invasive fat reduction treatment used by medical professionals. Health Canada has approved CoolSculpting for treating nine distinct areas of the body, including visible bulges under the jawline and chin, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, flanks, bra fat, axillary puffs, below the buttocks, and upper arms.
This ground-breaking procedure redefines your body shape by eliminating unwanted fat via freezing, all without the need for surgery or downtime. Medically referred to as Cryolipolysis, this process uses cold temperatures to target fat cells.
These fat cells are particularly susceptible to cold, and at a specific temperature, they undergo freezing while the water-based cells remain unaffected. Following this, your body naturally expels the dead fat cells over a span of 2 to 6 months, facilitating a fat reduction of about 20-25% in the treated region.
CoolSculpting boasts many benefits, making it an extremely popular choice for people looking to get rid of stubborn pockets of fat. Some of these benefits include:

After your CoolSculpting treatment, there are some aftercare recovery tips that will allow you to enjoy your toned results sooner rather than later. These tips include:
Our patients report that during the initial numbing part of the treatment, the area can feel very cold like ice is being applied to the skin. Within 8-10 minutes, the area is numb, and our patients usually fall asleep or read.
Once the applicator is removed, a vigorous 2-minute massage is done on the treated area. The massage causes further damage to the dead fat cells and helps them dislodge for the body to remove in the lymph system. Our patients report that the massage can be uncomfortable, but it is 100% necessary.
To prepare for your CoolSculpting treatment, eat a light meal before your appointment and limit beverages. Bring a tablet, books, or magazines to keep you entertained during your treatment (however, movement is limited, so don’t bring too many activities). Wear comfortable clothing with an elastic waist or zipper so you can easily get changed, and wear compression garments underneath if required.
We will provide you with nutritious snacks and beverages while you receive your treatment. Feel free to nap, read, work or watch Netflix.
Generally, results are noticeable in 2-4 weeks of treatment, however, the full results are not seen until 2-4 months. Unfortunately, if you gain weight, the results are not as noticeable.
Our patients return to normal daily activities right after their treatment. There may be some discomfort in the treatment area, but no activities need to be avoided.
You can typically achieve your CoolSculpting results in 2-3 sessions. To maintain your results, continue a healthy, active lifestyle. You may see your results as early as 3 weeks following your treatment, but you will see full results in 4-6 months. These results last indefinitely, as the treatment permanently kills fat cells.
During the procedure, you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging or mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching and cramping at the treatment site. The sensations subside when the area is numb.
Following the procedure, the typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, tenderness, cramping, itching, skin sensitivity or the sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after a submental treatment. Rare side effects include visible enlargement of the treated area 4-5 months post-treatment.
Yes, with our two devices, we are able to treat two areas at once such as the inner thigh/arm or abdomen/inner thigh. However, two treatments cannot be performed on the abdomen at once.
