What is Coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting is not a weight loss treatment-it is the #1 non-surgical fat reduction treatment used by doctors.
Coolsculpting is Health Canada approved to treat 9 different areas of the body: visible bulges under the chin and jawline, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, flanks, bra fat, axillary puffs, underneath the buttocks, and upper arms.
Coolsculpting is an innovative way to contour your body by freezing unwanted fat away with no surgery or downtime. Its technical name is Cryolipolysis, which is the medical term for fat freezing. Fat cells do not like the cold and at a certain temperature they freeze while the water based cells do not freeze. Once this happens your body will naturally eliminate the dead fat cells in a 2-6 month period, resulting in a 20-25% reduction of fat in the treated area.

Your Coolsculpting Experience at Beacon Dermatology
During your first visit to our beautiful centre you will have a private one on one consultation with one of our Certified Coolsculpting Technicians. You will discuss your areas of concern and the Coolsculpting Technician will perform a physician consultation with a bit of pinching and may even draw on you. The goal of the consultation is to develop a comprehensive treatment plan, provide a price quote and different options for the best outcome for YOUR body.
Consultations are always COMPLIMENTARY and take about 30-40 minutes. Please bring with you loose clothing that will allow the Coolsculpting Technician to assess your body. At this time you may have standardized before pictures taken which will be used to analyse your treatment results.
Every Body is different
Your Coolsculpting clinician will work with you to develop the best treatment plan that is tailored to your body. The treatment plan will show you what may be required for the best outcome.
The day of your treatment
Prepare to relax while you freeze your fat away. Our state of the art medical centre is supervised by Cosmetic Dermatologists who are on site every day. Our Coolscupting Technicians have advanced training from California. You are in good hands!
When you arrive at the clinic, you will be greeted and possibly asked to change into a robe or attire that will allow for easy access to your treatment area. The Coolsculpting Technician will review your treatment plan and explain the process and answer any questions you may have. Next- get comfy! We will provide you with snacks, beverages and WiFi. Some of our patients sleep while others work on a lap top or watch Netflix. The choice is yours. Each treatment is 30 to 45 minutes in length.
Does Coolsculpting hurt?
Our patients report that during the initial numbing part of the treatment, the area can feel very cold, like ice is being applied to the skin. Within about 8-10 minutes the area is numb and our patients usually fall asleep or read. Once the applicator is removed a vigorous 2 minute massage is done on the treated area. The massage causes further damage the dead fat cells and helps them dislodge for the body to remove in the lymph system. Our patients report that the massage can be uncomfortable but it is 100% necessary.
What can I do during my treatment?
We will provide you with nutritious snacks and beverages while you receive your treatment. Feel free to nap, read, work or watch Netflix.
When will I notice the results?
Generally results are noticeable in 2-4 weeks of treatment, however the full results are not seen until 2-4 months. Unfortunately, if you gain weight, the results are not as noticeable.
Is there downtime?
Our patients return to normal daily activities right after their treatment. There may be some discomfort on the treated area but there are no activities that need to be avoided.
Are there side effects?
During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging or mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching and cramping at the treatment site. The sensations subside when the area is numb. Following the procedure, the typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, tenderness, cramping, itching, skin sensitivity or the sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after a submental treatment. Rare side effects include visible enlargement of the treated area 4-5 months post treatment.
Can I treat two areas at once?
Yes, with our two devices we are able to treat two areas at once such as inner thigh/arm or abdomen/inner thigh. However, two treatments cannot be performed on the abdomen at once.
